Résumé : La conception du potentiel évoqué visuel (PEV) doit, selon les auteurs, être revue en fonction des travaux expérimentaux concernant l'organisation fonctionnelle du cortex visuel. Les recherches actuelles s'orientent vers une maîtrise de plus en plus grande du stimulus, seule possibilité de nous approcher des caractéristiques fonctionnelles des cellules corticales étudiées. La rivalité rétinienne a ainsi pu être mise en évidence grâce à une stimulation par damiers montée sur un synoptophore.

Summary : The conception of the visual potential evoked (PEV) must, according to the authors, be reviewed in function of the experimental works concerning the functional organisation of the visual cortex. The present researches point to a greater control of the stimulus which is the only way we can approach the functional characteristics of the studied cortical cells. The retinal rivalry has thus been able to be put in evidence amng to a checkered stimulation fitted on a a synoptophore.
